Japan has handed over the Registration Dossier forWorld Expo 2025 Osaka Kansaito the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
The Registration Dossier is an essential element in the organisation of the World Expo and its approval by the BIE will confirm Japan’s status as Organiser of World Expo 2025.

Following its election as World Expo 2025 host country during the 164th General Assembly of the BIE on 23 November 2018, Japan now enters a phase which will see the formalisation of its Expo project. The Registration Dossier presents a detailed plan for the implementation of the Expo, including scheduled operational dates, legislative and financial measures, the Expo site Master Plan, the conditions for international participation and legacy plans.
The Registration Dossier will now be reviewed by the BIE Secretariat and Member States in order to prepare for the formal registration of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai by the General Assembly. Following the registration, Japan will begin Expo preparations in earnest and will be able to invite international participants.
The Secretary General of the BIE, Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, congratulated the team working on Expo 2025 for their work in delivering the Registration Dossier, stating:“After months of close collaboration between the BIE and the Expo Organisers, this document serves as a comprehensive blueprint for World Expo 2025, providing details on the organisation of the event for the benefit of Organisers, Participants and for the BIE.”
Themed “Designing a Future Society for Our Lives”, World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is to take place on a 155-hectare site in Yumeshima Island in the Bay of Osaka. The opening dates of the Expo, as indicated in the Registration Dossier, are scheduled for 13 April to 13 October 2025.
