The Executive Committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) has agreed to the change in dates of the 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, now set to welcome visitors between 15 July and 11 December 2022. The change in dates, to be ratified during the next meeting of the BIE General Assembly, aims to ensure the broadest possible visitation and international participation in the event.

　　With the theme “Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries”, the 2022 edition of the Triennale Milano International Exhibition is conceived as an important forum for reflecting on tendencies and contradictions of the present and on the urgency of the challenges currently facing the planet. It will comprise a whole constellation of exhibitions offering a huge variety of points of view and opening up to interdisciplinary perspectives. It will also include a series of International Participations, called for under the auspices of the BIE through official government channels.

　　The thematic exhibition of the XXIII Triennale Milano is being curated by Ersilia Vaudo, astrophysicist and Chief Diversity Officer at the European Space Agency (ESA), while the Exhibition Design and the ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’ installation bringing together voices of Africa and its diaspora has been confined to Francis Kéré, laureate of the 2022 Pritzker Architecture Prize.

With a theme that casts new perspectives over all that lies beyond the limits of our senses and knowledge, this edition of the Triennale Milano International Exhibition will gather countries from all over the world in a joint endeavour to reflect on the unknown.”

The decision to postpone its opening to July has enabled us to broaden the number of participating countries and to ensure a larger number of overseas visitors. This is precisely the aim of the 23rd International Exhibition: to create a space for debate in which curators, artists, designers, architects, scientists, school groups, and collectives from all around the world can meet and freely discuss how to extend the borders of our knowledge and reduce the shadowy areas still extending across our planet.”
