Moai Statues of Easter Island

Ester Island is one of the most isolated islands on earth. From about the 10th century to the 16th or the 17th century, the Rapa Nui people living on the island started to make a lot of giant stone statues – Moai. These statues were closely related with religious activities and sacrificial rites of the islanders. On the island there are nearly 1 000 such stone statues and each of them weighs dozens of tons. How these giant stone statues were transported and erected on the island remains a mystery till now.
