Chinese shadow puppetry is a unique art form combining Chinese folk art and local opera, and is one of the unique parts of Chinese culture. It combines a variety of artistic means such as drama, painting, sculpture, etc. It is one of the puppet plays widely circulated in China's folklore; it is also the earliest art form that utilizes light and shadow to perform stories, and is known as the earliest light and shadow art in the world. In its development and evolution, it has constantly drawn on the nutrition of other art disciplines, and at the same time, with the help of the heritage of folk culture, it has formed a unique artistic expression rich in Chinese characteristics.
In 2011, Chinese shadow puppetry was officially inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
"The Yellow Emperor sleeps and dreams by day in the country of Huaxu" tells the legend that the Yellow Emperor dreamed of traveling to the country of Huaxu, and the world was then greatly ruled.
