During the early 20th century, the "Western Painting Movement", emerged as part of the New Culture Movement in Shanghai, This marked a significant shift in Chinese art from traditional to modern. Pan Yulin stood out for her exceptional artistic talent, becoming a prominent representative of the first generation of Western-style painters in China. Her contributions have significantly enriched the history of modern Chinese art.
Pan Yulin overcame poverty and lacked of education with determination. In Shanghai, she gained recognition as an artist. This exhibition presents her artistic journey in Shanghai and Paris, through a collection of more than 100 works and documents, showcasing how she merged Chinese and Western art forms.
