Today, JSC “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” held the final meeting of the Public Council of EXPO-2017 on the organization and holding of the Exhibition. The participants of the meeting summed up the three meetings of the Public Council and adopted 10 basic recommendations to be submitted to the Government for further consideration.

AkhmetzhanYessimov, the Board Chairman of JSC “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” reported to the members of the Public Council and the invited experts. He spoke about the main achievements accomplished by the company in 2016.

“We met at the first meeting of the Public Council in January. The year has been busy but productive. I think that you find it true after seeing the exhibition complex. Recently, the President opened a monument at the EXPO. The Head of the State stressed the tremendous work that was done. As for construction, we based all the work on legal grounds. Above all, we developed project documentation and passed the state examination. This is huge paper work. We saved a substantial amount that will specify exactly when we pass the final examination of all the facilities”, said AkhmetzhanYessimov. The head of the company also thanked all the Council members for their active participation in the work of the authority and wished them good luck and success in the coming year.

YerlanSydykov, the Chairman of the Public Council of EXPO-2017 and rector of L. N. Gumilev Eurasian University, spoke about the idea of creating a center at the University for training tour guides in 2017. “Tour guides must have an excellent command of not only Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, French, Turkish and other languages, but also know well the geography, history and economy of Kazakhstan and the world, so as to show our country to foreign tourists in the best light.”

Alongside, the Chairman of the Public Council announced the recommendations regarding the opening of direct air routes “Astana-Baikonur-Astana” and “Almaty-Baikonur-Almaty” for developing the domestic and international tourism at the space complex Baikonur, and to solve of the issue of reducing the period for examination of applications to allow foreign tourists to enter the complex – from 45 to 14 days.

The first meeting of the Public Council of EXPO-2017 was held on 26 January 2016. It is worth noting that during the whole work of the Public Council throughout the year, the members of the Council’s advisory body elaborated around 50 valuable recommendations and suggestions. The government and state agencies will receive the top 10 recommendations for consideration. In particular, a recommendation on creating an independent state body for tourism development, creating visa and transport conditions for foreign tourists to visit the Baikonur space port, creating a center for training guides at L. Gumilev Eurasian University and others. All these questions were repeatedly raised during the meetings of the Public Council and discussed with experts of the state bodies, akims of regions and members of the public.
