In order to better understand the history of World Expo, learn about Expo 2010 Shanghai, and communicate and discuss the experience of Shanghai, the delegation of “Youth Ambassadors” Program from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), totaling 22 persons, paid a visit to the World Expo Museum (WEM) at 9 am of August 5. It is learned that this Program is sponsored by the Crown Prince Court in Abu Dhabi and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE. Headed by al-Baher,Director of the “Youth Ambassadors” Program and Senior Analyst of Office of Strategy of the Crown Prince Court, andAli, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE, the 20 students of the delegation are outstanding delegates selected from Zayed University, Khalifa University and some other top universities in the UAE.

Through the visit, the members of the delegation had an intuitive insight into the WEM and a deeper understanding of Expo culture.

Ali, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE, said that the WEM is impressive and marvelous. What surprises him most is that the introduction to Expo 2020 Dubai is exhibited in Exhibition Hall 8 titled “Vision of Future”. One of the works is comprised of the picture of the WEM and the effect diagram of Expo 2020 Dubai. On the picture is the theme of Expo 2020: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, which implies that Expo 2020 Dubai is a further extension of the history of World Expo and inheritance of Expo spirit. While the inheritance of the history and spirit of World Expo will count on the young generation and come true through their efforts.

After the visit, The UAE’s “Youth Ambassadors” Program delegation exchanged gift with the WEM, and had a talk at the WEM’s VIP Room. The delegates put forward many questions related to the World Expo, for example, what the responsibilities of the WEM are, how Expo 2010 Shanghai attracted 73.08 million visitors, and the difficulties encountered during Expo 2010 Shanghai.

Ali,the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE, said that Shanghai’s experience in hosting World Expo is a great inspiration for the UAE to host Expo 2020 Dubai. As the only official museum and authorized documentation centre of the BIE, the WEM will also make efforts to play a part in sustaining Expo history and inheriting Expo culture.
