Liu Xinhua, Director of the WEM, received the interview with EXPO-life program at Expo Astana on Astana time August 30, and answered the questions from the reports about the origins of the World Expo Museum (WEM), the significance in participating in Expo Astana, highlights of exhibits, and etc...
Director Liu Xiuhua expressed thatas the only official museum and authorized documentation center of the BIE, the WEM’ one important task is to collect the exhibits from previous sessions of Expos and future Expos. The WEM will take the opportunity of participating in Expo Astana to carry out cultural exchanges with Astana Organizing Committee, the participating countries and international organizations, and start investigation and collection of exhibits from the Expo Site and the Pavilions. So far, 45 exhibitors have donated more than 200 exhibits to the WEM. In order to preserve the memory of Expo Astana, the WEM specifically sent a camera crewto take photos of the Pavilions and interviewed the General Commissioners/Directors of the Pavilions.
When introducing the highlights of the WEM Pavilion, Director Liu Xiuhua said that the WEM Pavilion would not only help the visitors to know the history of World Expo, but also give them an opportunity to experience the charm of Shanghai – “the City of Expo”. Since the opening of Expo Astana, the WEM Pavilion has received more than 300,000 visitors.
Director Liu Xiuhua also revealed to reporters that the WEM would hold an Expo Astana Retrospective Exhibition in Shanghai next June to display the highlight exhibits of this Expo and expound the influence of future energy on life. She extended her welcome to Kazakhstan friends to pay a visit to Shanghai.
