Since March, visitors to the World Expo Museum, especially school kids, have surged as it got warmer. Over the past two weeks, 3,000 school kids have come to the museum every day, and the number doubled today (April 24). To serve them well, the WEM staff have been working hard to provide them with a comfortable and safe environment, in addition to a wonderful and enlightening experience.

It was raining, but the crowd had gathered in front of the museum early in the morning. The kids included middle school students and primary school students. They were impressed by the peculiar and yet beautiful building of the museum. Every kid was excited about every piece of exhibit. From the origin of World Expos to Expo 2010 Shanghai, and then to the future of World Expos, they shuttled between eight permanent exhibition halls. Zhang Xinwen, a grade-four student from Sanlin Primary school, said that she was surprised by the number of precious historical photos, images and legacies in the museum.

The kids, either middle school students or primary school students, were especially interested in the City Balance Three Questions to World Expo. In their eyes, this exhibit is not only a huge decorative art; it also motivated them to think about the future of the Earth, our shared home. In addition to pictures and objects, multi-media exhibits have aroused great interest. Xiao Zeyu, a fifth grader from Dongfang Primary school, said he was amazed by the Paris Holographic Theater, the Grand Gathering of the World Culture and the Colorful Expo, and he expected more video experience and more interactions.

Besides kids from local schools, there were a large number of students from other cities in the Yangtze River delta area, including a group from Weiyang High School of Yangzhou. The group leader said that their visit to World Expo Museum was part of their study-tour program. Compared with Shanghai Disneyland they visited the day before, World Expo Museum was more educational, allowing students to go back into the history of the humanities and to learn more about inventions and innovations.
