On May 24, a delegation of the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai, led by Consul General Kazuyuki Katayama, visited World Expo Museum. Ms. Liu Xiuhua, Curator of World Expo Museum, and heads of the General Affairs Office and the Documentation Exchange Center of WEM met and exchanged with the visitors.
The delegation visited the basic exhibition and the temporary exhibition “Expo Heritage: Exhibits Collections from World Expos”. The visitors were deeply impressed by the exhibitions which gave them deeper insights into the history of World Expos. They were especially thankful because the temporary exhibition reminded them of Expo 1970 Osaka. They hoped to increase cooperation and exchange with China regarding World Expos.
Curator Liu introduced the background and purpose of building the museum and the key links between the museum with the BIE. She said that Japan has a wealth of experience in organizing and participating in World Expos and World Expo Museum would like to share experience and conduct joint academic research in World Expos with Japanese institutions and experts.
