From November 22 to 23, 2018, the WEM delegation led by Jiang Sha, the WEM CPC secretary, attended the 164th General Assembly of the BIE in Paris, France.

Steen Christensen, President of the General Assembly of the BIE, chaired the Assembly. Vicente G. Loscertales, Secretary General of the BIE, and Dimitri Kerkentzes, Deputy Secretary General of the BIE, attended the Assembly, together with more than 200 representatives from 156 member states of the BIE. The participants of the General Assembly also included representatives of organizers of future world expos, Expo 2020 Dubai, Horticultural Expo 2019 Beijing, Horticultural Expo 2022 Amsterdam-Almere, 2019 Milan Triennial, Expo 2021 Doha (Horticultural), and Horticultural Expo 2023 Buenos Aires, as well as the bidding delegations of the three candidate countries for Expo 2025. Lasting two days from November 22 to 23, the General Assembly had a well-packed program.

On November 22, the General Assembly reviewed the annual work report of the BIE's four committees. Ms. Assis Pereira Africano, Chairman of the Administration and Budget Committee, reported the 2019 budget proposal; Mr. Choi Jae-chul, Chairman of the Executive Committee, reported the conclusions of the BIE inquiry missions to the three candidate countries of Expo 2025; Mr. Berger, Chairman of the Rules Committee, reported the performance of BIE rues and proposed amendments to Regulations 4, 9, and 11-13; Mr. Moin-Ud-Din Ahmad Wani, Chairman of the Information and Communication Committee, reported the progress of the Information Communication Committee.

The Assembly officially recognized Horticultural Expo 2021 Doha. Steen Christensen and Vicente G. Loscertales awarded the flag of the BIE to the Minister of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar, Mr. Arsubi.Expo 2021 Doha will be held from October 14, 2021 to March 17, 2022, and the theme will be "Green Desert, Improving the Environment."

Ms. Jiang Sha reported the operating performance of the WEM since opening in June 2017, and thanked the member states of the BIE and the organizer and participants of Expo 2018 Astana for the support and assistance they gave WEM. She noted that the WEM Council would be formally established in December 2018 and the first council meeting would be held at the same time. Under the guidance of the BIE, WEM would actively organize practical trainings to improve its performance as the official documentation center of the BIE and actively engage in the preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai and form a full-cycle tripartite partnership with the BIE and the Expo 2020 Dubai organizer. WEM will render better serves to the World Expo community and offer a communication platform to preserve the World Expo heritage, promote the Word Expo spirit and expand the World Expo effect.
On the second day of the General Assembly of the BIE (November 23), the three candidate countries of Expo 2025 made their final presentations. According to the statute of the BIE, eligible and present member states of the BIE would vote for the host country in a secret ballot. Please follow us.
