Last year, WEM established “Yangtze River Delta Education Alliance” with 29 educational units in the region in response to the International Museum Day which falls on May 18. This year as the day is approaching, WEM promotion and education group, together with WE Kids series educational events, went to Yangzhou under the assistance of the promotion and education department of Yangzhou Museum, and gave seven lessons within four days to the near 1000 teachers and students in five schools about the knowledge of World Expo.
DAY 1 April 16 Jinghua Branch of the Third Yangzhou Governmental Organ Kindergarten (Jinghua Kindergarten)
First we visited Jinghua Kindergarten where the activity “Moe Story” by Teacher Yaoyao received positive responses. We were surprised at the knowledge scope of the level-2 kids.“Why does the class finish so fast?” they asked us. Although the class was carried out in a happy atmosphere, we had to say goodbye to them.

Yangzhou Yunhe Middle School
After the first session the promotion and education group made their way to Yangzhou Yunhe Middle School where Teacher Yaoyao gave junior high school students a vivid lesson about a more serious issue – environmental protection, with the theme of “after tomorrow”.
From the decrease in amount of polar bears to world expos with the theme of environmental protection, the lesson, rather emotional though, addressed the importance of environmental protection. We all have only one Earth, which has to be guarded by all of us.

DAY 3 April 18 Yangzhou Yucai Experimental School
It was a sunny day with a temperature of 31 degrees. Together with the heat we felt the enthusiasm of Yangzhou students for our lessons. We visited Yangzhou Yucai Experimental School and presented them with the lesson named “the dream of free movement – aeroplane” given by Teacher Jinghai. 46 students from class 7, grade 4 awaited the teacher with hope and eagerness for new knowledge. During the class they hardly moved their eyes out of the blackboard.

As a venue for civic involvement, educational activities are of great importance among the tasks of a museum. WEM has put attention to educational activities and this time, Director Liu Xiuhua attended the activities of WE Kids to Yangzhou, offered her sincere invitation to the school of a visit to WEM, and explored the possibility of multi-mode cooperation between WEM and the school.
The visit to Yangzhou gave the WEM promotion and education group new challenges, destinations and experience. With more children participating in WE kids, knowing the World Expo and enhancing their knowledge, we hope the activity can bring fundamental changes to the society, and the series “WE kids” will continue passing on to more audience.
