The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held its 165th General Assembly in Paris on 28 May. Mr.Steen Christensen, President of the BIE, presided over the meeting, and Mr.Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the BIE, and Mr.Dimitri Kerkentzes, Deputy Secretary General of the BIE, attended the meeting. Mr.Yu Zhenyu, Deputy Director of the WEM attended the meeting and reported WEM's working progress.
During the Meeting
That day, more than 200 representatives from 170 member countries of the BIE attended the meeting. Delegates of Expo 2020 Dubai, Horticultural Expo 2019 Beijing, Floriade Expo 2022 Amsterdam-Almere, XXII Triennale di Milano, Horticultural Expo 2021 Doha, Expo 2023 Buenos Aires, Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai attended the meeting and delivered progress reports. Lasting only one day, on 28 May, the General Assembly had a lot of agenda items.

The meeting reviewed and approved the annual work reports from the four committees of the BIE. Ms.Assis Pereira Africano, President of the Administrative and Budget Committee, approved the Audit Report for Financial Year 2018 and submitted to the Secretary General her proposal for management of financial year 2018. Mr.Choi Jae-Chul, President of the Executive Committee, made a progress report of preparations for Expo Dubai; Mr.Berger, President of the Rules Commission, delivered a report on the proposal for the Special Regulation No. 14 of Expo 2020 Dubai; Mr.Moin-Ud-Din Ahmad Wani, President of the Information and Communication Committee, reported the progress of the said committee.

Mr.Yu Zhenyu, Deputy Director of the WEM, reported the progress of the WEM to the Assembly, mainly introducing the two-year operating performance of the WEM as of May 2019, such as the visitor's count, awards and honors, temporary exhibitions held by the WEM, literature research and activities of social education international exchanges. He also expressed sincere thanks to the Member States of the BIE, the organizers and participants of World Expos for their dedicated support and assistance to the WEM.

Mr.Yu Zhenyu emphasized that in the future, under the guidance of the BIE, the WEM will actively build an electronic information sharing platform for Expo experts and scholars, establish a long-term exchange and cooperation mechanism between the organizers and sponsors of Expos, and further provide good services and build the communication platform for the member states and the Expo community in the fields of exhibitions, forums, research, education, etc. to inherit the Expo legacy, carry forward the Expo spirit, and expand the Expo effects.
