Osaka City Delegation Visits World Expo Museum

  On the morning of September 5, a visiting group of seven people headed by Osaka Vice Mayor Toru Takahashi came to the World Expo Museum.

  Shanghai and Osaka City of Japan became sister cities in 1974. Over the years, they have carried out fruitful and pragmatic cooperation in a wide range of fields, which has effectively promoted the common development of the two cities.

  This year marks the 45th Anniversary of the two cities befriending each other. Osaka Vice Mayor Toru Takahashi and Osaka City Council Speaker Kazumi Hirota jointly led the Osaka City delegation to visit Shanghai from September 4 to September 6. The World Expo Museum was an important stop during their visit.

  Yu Zhenyu, Deputy Director of the World Expo Museum, accompanied the visitors and introduced to them the history and architectural features of the World Expo Museum.

  The Vice Mayor and the accompanying visitors boarded the rooftop viewing platform of the building to overlook the expo park of World Expo Shanghai 2010 bestriding both sides of the Huangpu River. They mainly wanted to know about the follow-up development and reuse of the World Expo.

  The guests visited the permanent exhibition of the World Expo Museum. In the fifth exhibition hall of the Centenary Pageant, the guests are studying the overall layout of the expo park more intuitively through the sand table of World Expo Shanghai.

  In 1970, Japan further opened its door through World Expo Osaka, made effective efforts to reintegrate itself into the international community and contributed to the development of the World Expo.

  After half a century, Osaka will host the World Expo for the second time. The theme of World Expo Osaka 2025 is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. It aims to spur a global effort to achieve sustainable societies centering on such two cores as “"Multiple Ways of Healthy Living" and "Sustainable Socio-Economic System". It’s expected that the said expo will receive 28 million visitors (person/time).
