“Prints Across Generations— Printmaking Art and Expo Printmaking Works Exhibition" launched
On August 18th, the “Prints Across Generations— Printmaking Art and Expo Printmaking Works Exhibition”,which was sponsored by World Expo Museum and Yangzhou Museum, and co-organized by Hongqiao Peninsula Printmaking Art Center, was inaugurated in No. 1 exhibition hall of World Expo Museum. The exhibition covers more than 200 pieces of Chinese and Western print making works and the exhibition will last for two months.
The theme of “Prints Across Generations” is printmaking art and expo printmaking works. It interprets the collision and dialogue in visual art between "World" and “Expo” through five sections:“Origin From Woodblock Printing",“Woodblock Printing Flourishes",“The Sublimation of Prints on the Artistic Level",“Printing Marks in the Grand Events" and "Printing Workshop". The exhibition introduces the historical development of printmaking, displays the prints related to World Expo and popularises all kinds of printmaking technology, in order to show the development history of printmaking art and the application of printmaking in the field of Expo in a popular and interesting way to the public. The exhibition also provide a new "Cultural living room" for the audience during summer.

Each of these printmaking works carries a wealth of information. Through the window of the World Expo, it not only enhances the viewer's understanding of the art of prints, but also enables us to have a deeper understanding of the commonality of the spread of the Expo and prints.

Director of the World Expo Museum Liu Xiuhua said that printmaking works and printing are important carriers for humans to spread and share the fruits of civilization achievements. The application of printmaking works in the field of World Expo, on one hand, allows audiences to appreciate the splendor of the World Expo, on the other hand, it also promotes global multicultural exchanges and exchanges with the use of "prints" as the medium of communication. It can be described as "Prints Across Generations,Beauty and Common ”. It is hoped that the cooperation with Yangzhou Museum will further promote regional collaborative innovation in the museum field, realize the strategic goal of "Strengthen exchanges, complement each other's advantages, mutual benefit and common development" between the two museums, and jointly build a museum cultural resource sharing platform .
Director of Yangzhou Museum Shu Jiaping delivered a speech
Director of Yangzhou Museum Shu Jiaping, said that Yangzhou Museum is the only museum of engraving and printing in China, with a collection of more than 100,000 plates from Ming and Qing dynasties. There are 42 pieces (sets) of cultural relics in this exhibition and this is the first time that Yangzhou Museum promotes the engraving and printing culture in Shanghai, and it is of special significance to expand the traditional engraving and printing culture and the influence of Yangzhou Museum.
During the 2018 International Museum Day, the "Yangtze River Delta Museum Education Expo" was held in World Expo Museum, and the Yangtze River Delta Museum Education Alliance was formally established. World Expo Museum and Yangzhou Museum became the first alliance members. Today, the cooperation between the two museums is upgraded and iterated at the same time as the printmaking exhibition opens, and the "Cooperative Development Cooperation Framework Agreement" was jointly signed. The two museums will continue to expand multi-field and in-depth cooperation in fields of academic research, exhibitions, scientific research, cultural relics protection, and cultural creativity development. Two museums will jointly explore the practice and effectiveness of the "integrated development of cultural relics and museums in the Yangtze River Delta" in order to actively respond to China's "integrated cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta" strategy.

This exhibition will in term be held in Yangzhou. Two museums will hold a series of youth activities combining offline visit experience and online live teaching during the exhibition period. At the same time, two museums plan to connect online in Shanghai and Yangzhou, in order to jointly carry out online lectures and online visits for Students in remote areas such as Gansu and Yunnan. And explore new channels and new models of public cultural services such as remote public welfare social education, etc.
