——Special guided tour for members of the Shanghai Museum Association and women’s salon held at World Expo Museum
Taking the opportunity of the special exhibition "SHE·Women's imprint on EXPO", the World Expo Museum and the Shanghai Museum Association recently hosted a members-only guided tour and "She is here - woman in the museum" salon, aiming to promote Interactive exchange among museum members.
On the afternoon of March 31, about 40 representatives gathered in the temporary exhibition hall of the World Expo Museum. After the brief welcome speech by curator Liu Xiuhua, the member representatives visited the exhibition of " SHE·Women's imprint on EXPO " led by Qin Ya.
The special exhibition "SHE·Women's imprint on EXPO" is a project combining the collection of the museum and the special research of the World Expo to commemorate the International Women's Day on March 8. It opened on March 8 this year. According to the curator, the exhibition interprets women’s traces of the world from the unique cultural perspective of the World Expo. By displaying more than 70 collections of related objects and documents, the exhibition retells the “her” in the global historical memory. The exhibition is also anticipated to encourage visitors with regard to women’s culture, women’s development and future vision.
Representatives listened carefully to the curator's introduction, asked questions interactively and affirmed the unique perspective and vivid interpretation of the exhibition, the on-site response was enthusiastic.
After the visit, female directors, curators and elite were also invited to attend the "SHE·Women's imprint on EXPO " salon held in the cultural and creative space of the World Expo Museum.
The salon was hosted by Chen Yunke, secretary-general of the Shanghai Museum Association. Liu Xiuhua, the director of the World Expo Museum made a keynote speech. Liu Wentao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Museum, Qiu Zhengping, Deputy Director of Shanghai History Museum, Wang Yufeng, Deputy Director of Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall, Liu Wei, Director of Shanghai China Printing Museum, Wang Lili, Director of Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xu Chunyan, Deputy Director of Jinshan Museum , Zhong Ruibin, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch of the World Expo Museum, and female representatives from 13 members participated in the event, including Chen Yun Memorial Hall, Minhang District Museum, Fengxian District Museum, Jing'an District Museum of Cultural Relics and Historical Materials, Shanghai Sun Yat-sen Former Residence Memorial Hall, Shanghai Lu Xun Memorial Hall and World Expo Museum, etc.
The guests discussed four topics:"Looking for her in the crowd - women as the theme of museum exhibitions","Undefinable - women as museum workers","Because of confidants- women as museum service objects" and "After the show - Women in Museums outside the workplace”
In her keynote speech, Liu Xiuhua, curator of the World Expo Musuem, reviewed the development of women and the World Expo. She said that the World Expo Museum is trying to call on people to understand and discover the progressive relationship between "her phenomenon","her power","her society" and "her world" through the women's thematic exhibition at the World Expo, so as to promote respect and understanding among people. As a museum worker,"undefined" may mean "customization" and "new definition". Women should show gender self-confidence and make their own unique contributions to the museum career with their own unique advantages.
Liu Wentao, deputy director of the Shanghai Museum, reviewed her experience in organizing female-themed exhibitions and believed that the museum has brought spiritual strength and support to female workers.
Qiu Zhengping, deputy curator of the Shanghai History Museum, took the exhibition of "Elegant Collection · Qipao in Shanghai" as an entry point and exchanged experience in organizing exhibitions and cheongsam collections.
Wang Yufeng, deputy director of the Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall, said that there are few female-themed exhibitions in the Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall and today's event provides useful inspiration.
Liu Wei, curator of the Shanghai China Printing Museum, reviewed her career development and the sense of belonging brought by the museum, saying "As long as she is present, the world will be better."
Wang Lili, curator of the Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shared her "undefinable" and mission feelings as a curator, doctor, teacher, student, mother and other multiple roles.
Liu Qifang, deputy director of the exhibition compilation and research department of the Chen Yun Memorial Hall, exchanged views on the "Elegant Rhythm of Jiangnan" exhibition and the upcoming new exhibition.
Wang Chenglan, associate research librarian of the Urban History Research Department of the Shanghai History Museum, discussed the inspiration of the "SHE·Women's imprint on EXPO" special exhibition for her future curatorial ideas from the curator's perspective.
Zhong Jundi, director of the exhibition department of Minhang District Museum, said that district-level museums should further explore resources of female-themed exhibitions. Sun Min, director of the Research Department of Sun Yat-sen's Former Residence Memorial Hall in Shanghai, shared how she was touched by the outstanding deeds of Fan Jinshi, the director of the Dunhuang Academy.
The "She is here" salon is an exploration and experiment. Through the theme of museums and women, the guests come together to collide, inspire and encourage each other, and further deepen understanding and friendship. The discussion salon was successfully concluded in a harmonious atmosphere with endless ideas.
