On the morning of September 27, guided by the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Federation, supported by the Shanghai Huangpu District Commerce Commission, the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Development Research Foundation, and the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Design Industry Alliance, the "Shanghai Industrial Design Association and the World Expo Museum jointly organized The "EDW" 2023 Shanghai Design Innovation Competition Award Ceremony and Annual Ceremony was successfully held at the WE Theater of the World Expo Museum.

The " Enjoy Design Award" is based on the theme of "Enjoy Design, Enjoy Life". Since its launch in July, it has collected more than a thousand works from design units, design schools and independent designers across the country. In the end, 110 works were shortlisted. After expert evaluation, 42 winning works were selected, including 10 Best Design Innovation Awards, 5 Best Concept Design Innovation Awards, 3 PANTONE Color Awards and 24 Outstanding Design Innovation Awards.

At the award ceremony, Ni Weiyuan, President of the Shanghai Industrial Design Association, Liu Wentao, Director of the World Expo Museum, and Wu Hesheng, Chairman of the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Development Research Foundation, delivered speeches respectively.

Liu Wentao, Director of the World Expo Museum, mentioned in her speech that in 1851, after the first World Expo was held in London, the V&A Museum was established with some of the exhibits from the World Expo as its basic collection. Today, the V&A Museum has become the largest decorative arts and design museum in the world. V&A Museum is collaborating with the World Expo Museum to display exquisite collections that reflect the design characteristics of the era. This World Expo happens to be the beginning of the historical development of modern industrial civilization and industrial design. Today, the outstanding innovative products in this competition that represent the current design characteristics are also meeting the audience in the Cloud Hall. The dialogue between ancient and modern times reflects people's strong demand for a better life and excellent design, and it also coincides with the open mind of the World Expo Museum. We will take a more proactive attitude to integrate into this social development pattern, and look forward to the collision of the World Expo spirit and innovative thoughts.

At the award ceremony, Professor Wang Shouzhi, deputy dean of the School of Creativity and Design of Shanghai University of Science and Technology, as the chief expert judge, also came to the scene to give comments. He praised the works for taking life as the starting point, having a wide range of dimensions, and each having its own merits, spreading the charm of design to public life. It is fully in line with the purpose of the competition "Enjoy Design, Enjoy Life".

At the ceremony, the association announced the appointment of the famous Japanese contemporary brand designer Kashiwa Sato as the international exchange ambassador of the Shanghai industrial design industry. This is also a reflection of the increasing international influence of the "EDW Award" and the continuous emergence of innovative design results. We hope to take this opportunity to enhance design exchanges between China and Japan and spark creative sparks.
