On December 3, 2002, Shanghai won the right to host the 2010 World Expo. After 11 months of preparation, on October 30, 2003, the Shanghai World Expo Bureau was established and the preparations for the Expo 2010 Shanghai were organized and guaranteed.

　　In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai World Expo Bureau, on October 30, 2023, the Shanghai Macroeconomics Society and the World Expo Museum hosted the World City Day 2023 Shanghai region series of activities - the "Shanghai World Expo and Shanghai Urban Modernization" seminar at the World Expo Museum.

　　Former presidents of the Shanghai Institute of International Studies Yu Xintian and Yang Jiemian, honorary president of the Shanghai Japan Society Wu Jinan, author of the international effect chapter of "Shanghai World Expo Chronicles" Chen Hongbin, Shanghai World Expo theme interpretation consultants He Shouchang, Chen Xiejun, Ning Yuemin, former Shanghai History Museum Director Hu Jiang, Distinguished Professor of Fudan University Li Hongbing, Director of World Expo Museum Liu Wentao, Director of Shanghai World Cities Day Affairs Coordination Center Cheng Jian, Director of Shendi Group Jin Tao, Director of Information Consulting and Research Center of Shanghai Library Science and Technology Information Institute Yang Rongbin and other thirteen Experts who have participated in Shanghai World Expo projects or World Expo research attended.

　　Experts discussed the Shanghai World Expo's role in promoting Shanghai's urban development from many aspects. We hope that in the new stage of Chinese-style modernization, Shanghai will continue to play a leading role and carry forward the good experience of opening up to the outside world; we hope that in the future, we can continue to hold various large-scale international economic and cultural exchange activities with a pragmatic attitude, optimize public management mechanisms, and temper the city spirit., improve the quality of citizens and shape the image of the city; we hope that all parties can strengthen cooperative research, elevate the successful experience of the Expo 2010 Shanghai to the level of a theoretical system, and better guide the urbanization process of China and Shanghai.
