(NEWS from BIE) In 2025, the ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award is seeking for the best international design projects responding to the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai,“Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.
Recognising outstanding contributions to design, the Compasso d’Oro International Award will be presented next year within the framework of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai. The Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI), in collaboration with the General Commissariat for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai and with the support of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), will reward the most innovative and significant projects in relation to the Expo's theme.
The prestigious award is one of the most renowned accolades in the field of design and will celebrate projects that embody excellence in design at the upcoming World Expo in Japan. The 2025 edition of the Compasso d’Oro International Award will evaluate projects and contributions that align with Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai’s theme and commitment to promoting well-being, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability. The jury will notably take into consideration the three sub-themes of the Expo – Saving Lives, Empowering Lives and Connecting Lives – when considering the design proposals.
The decision to organise a special edition of the Compasso d’Oro International Award in conjunction with Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai underscores the pivotal role of Expos in fostering visionary thinking and advancing innovation in design. The inaugural International ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, presented in 2015, was aligned with the theme of Expo 2015 Milan,“Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
Nominations for the “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” edition of the Compasso d’Oro International Award can be submitted via the dedicated website –compassodorointernational.com– before 10 March 2025. Submissions will be evaluated within eight thematic categories. Winning products will be showcased in Italy’s pavilion, with an awards ceremony set to take place at the Expo on 5 September 2025.
